Vietnam Dog Show wraps up on Sunday

More than 200 dog breeds compete at the 9th Vietnam Championship Dog Show on December 16-17 at Phu Tho Stadium in HCMC’s District 11 - PHOTOS: THANH HOA

More than 200 dogs of different species were on show at the Vietnam Championship Dog Show 2017 which wrapped up at Phu Tho Stadium in HCMC’s District 11 last Sunday.

The show, organized by the Vietnam Kennel Association, featured many dog breeds from Vietnam and neighboring countries such as Thailand, Japan, Indonesia, China, South Korea.

This was the ninth year that the contest had been organized in Vietnam and become an important event for dog breeders and dog lovers.

Representing Vietnam at this year’s competition were Phu Quoc ridgeback dogs, a breed from Phu Quoc Island off Vietnam’s southern province of Kien Giang and Hmong dogs with short tails.


A professional handler can earn US$5,000 a day at this year’s competition
The Chow Chow dog breed, originating in China, draws a lot of attention. The owner of this dog said a mature Chow Chow costs US$2,000 or above
