AIP trains students in traffic safety

The Asia Injury Prevention Foundation (AIP) organized a three-week training workshop, which wrapped up last Saturday, to raise awareness of traffic safety and improve safe driving skills for university students.

The workshop, which attracted 210 traffic safety ambassadors from seven universities in HCMC and Hanoi, was part of the “Safety Delivered” project funded by UPS Foundation, a charitable arm of global logistics service provider UPS.

The program focused on high-risk behaviors when driving among young Vietnamese people such as distracted driving, speeding, not checking blind spots and not wearing a helmet.

Through the workshop, the AIP Foundation aimed to encourage the ambassadors to convey the message of road traffic safety and to promote knowledge on safe driving for their peers by various ways.

Uong Viet Dung, deputy chief of the Secretariat at the National Traffic Safety Committee, said in a statement that the majority of road users, especially students, still lack the proper knowledge of motorcycle driving techniques, which is one of the major factors leading to the increasingly high number of road traffic accident cases.

Hoang Na Huong, deputy general director of AIP Foundation, said the student ambassadors will play a critical role in the project to help raise awareness of road traffic safety for their peers.
